Travel Information

There are some different alternatives to reach Santander. Its airport Santander-Parayas (SDR) is connected (on a daily basis) with the two most important Spanish airports, namely Madrid-Barajas (MAD) and Barcelona-El Prat (BCN). Both of them have flights to/from a large number of European cities. The duration of a flight is less than 1 hour and 15 minutes in both cases. Other domestic connections are also available. RyanAir provides some direct flight services that connect Santader with different European airports, namely London-Stansted (STN), Brussels-Charleroi (CRL) Dublin (DUB), Dusseldorf-Weeze (NRN), Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN), Milan-Bergamo (BGY), Pisa (PSA) and Rome-Ciampino (CIA). The available time tables should be double-checked.

Once you arrive at Santander airport, the best way to reach the city is by taxi. That should cost not more than 30 €. Another alternative to reach Santander, is going to Bilbao Airport (BIO); it has direct flights with some European airports, at least Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), London-Heathrow (LHR), Frankfurt-International (FRA), Brussels-National (BRU), Milan-Malpensa (MXP), Dusseldorf (DUS). Other connections are also available and should be double-checked.

Bilbao airport is about 115 km from Santander (1 hour and 15 minutes drive). In order to go to Santander, you can either take a taxi straightforward to Santander (that would cost approximately 150 €), or to the Bilbao bus station (Termibus), where you can pick a bus to Santander (the taxi would cost you around 35 €, and the bus ticket 10 €); there are several buses from Bilbao to Santander (at least one per hour). A third alternative is to hire a car and drive along A8 highway to Santander.
